Why was the funding needed?
Gympie Basketball Association has become a cornerstone of community sport in the region, providing year-round opportunities for more than 350 members to participate in basketball through competitions, development programs and community activities.
With thousands of players, families, officials and visitors coming through the facility each year, the association plays an important role in creating opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, connect with others and be part of a thriving sporting community.
As participation continues to grow, the association identified a number of practical improvements that would strengthen safety, support volunteers and improve the overall experience for players, officials, spectators and families.
Rather than one major infrastructure project, the focus was on a collection of upgrades that would make a meaningful difference to the day-to-day operation of the facility and the people who use it.
What was funded
A safer, better-equipped home for basketball in Gympie
Safety first
A new AED and First Aid and CPR training will help coaches, committee members and volunteers respond with confidence when it matters most.
Less clutter, smoother operations
New shelving and storage solutions will make it easier to organise equipment, support volunteers and keep the facility functioning day to day.
Better game-day feel
Facility improvements and a new scoreboard will lift the experience for players, officials, spectators and families during competitions and events.
Having previously achieved Grant Ready status through Club Builder’s Grant Ready Program, the association was well positioned to identify and pursue funding opportunities aligned to its priorities.
Small upgrades. Big difference.
By investing in safety, volunteer capability and facility presentation, Gympie Basketball Association is building a stronger foundation for current members, future participants and the wider basketball community.
