Killer Cars Melbourne Secures $25,000 for Community Car Show Event
Killer Cars Melbourne has built a strong following through its ability to bring automotive enthusiasts, families and the broader community together for large-scale, high-energy events that celebrate car culture in a welcoming and inclusive way.
Its Melbourne Show & Shine event has already demonstrated strong community appeal, drawing major crowds and creating a memorable day out for attendees from across metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and beyond. The event also creates opportunities for local organisations to be involved, with the Mernda Football & Netball Club running key food and beverage operations as a fundraiser, and proceeds from the day supporting the Doreen RSL Sub-Branch and its work with veterans and their families.
Why this funding was needed
As the event continues to grow, delivering it safely and professionally has become increasingly important. With thousands of attendees expected, the event requires a high level of planning, infrastructure and operational support to ensure the day runs smoothly and remains enjoyable for everyone involved.
This includes the need for strong traffic management, security, first aid, signage, staging, communications equipment and other event infrastructure that helps manage crowds, support accessibility and create a safe and well-organised experience for both participants and visitors.
That support has now come through the Whittlesea Council Large Grants Program, with Killer Cars Melbourne securing $25,000 to help deliver its next Show & Shine event. With support from Club Builder in preparing the funding application, the organisation has been able to strengthen the event’s planning and delivery capacity for its next edition.
The funding will support a range of key event management costs, including traffic management services, security, first aid, portable toilets, staging, generators, event radios, signage and other essential operational items that help deliver a large-scale community event successfully.
Community impact
The benefits of the project extend well beyond the event itself.
For Killer Cars Melbourne, the funding will help elevate the quality, safety and professionalism of the event, allowing it to continue growing as a standout community experience.
For the local community, the event creates a family-friendly day out that brings people together through shared interests, entertainment and community involvement. It also supports local fundraising, strengthens local partnerships, and helps showcase the City of Whittlesea as a place that can host vibrant, large-scale community events.
By investing in the delivery of this event, the grant is helping ensure the Killer Cars Melbourne Show & Shine continues to provide strong community benefit, local engagement and a memorable experience for attendees of all ages.
