Ridge Hills United Football Club Secures $30,000 for Lighting Upgrade
Ridge Hills United Football Club continues to strengthen its role as a growing grassroots football hub in Brisbane’s north, providing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to get involved in the game.
Founded in 1993, the club has built a strong community culture centred around participation, development and inclusivity. Today, Ridge Hills United supports more than 350 participants across junior and senior programs, with continued growth expected over the coming years.
Why the project matters
As the club has expanded, the limitations of the existing field lighting have become increasingly apparent. The current lighting system provides inconsistent coverage and falls below the required standard for evening training and competition, creating challenges around visibility, safety and scheduling.
With many players, families and volunteers only able to attend after school or work, reliable lighting has become essential to supporting the club’s growing participation base.
Through the establishment of a quality Facility Master Plan with Club Builder, Ridge Hills United identified upgraded lighting as a key priority to support safer training environments, extended facility use and future participation growth.
Project Funded
$30,000 lighting upgrade through the Queensland Gambling Community Benefit Fund Round 125
The project includes the supply and installation of new LED floodlights and associated infrastructure upgrades to improve lighting quality across the main field. The upgraded system will create a safer, more reliable and more flexible environment for training and football activity throughout the year.
Real impact for the club
For players and coaches, the upgrade means better visibility during training sessions, safer playing conditions and greater access to the field during busy evening periods.
For volunteers and committee members, improved lighting helps ease scheduling pressures and allows the facility to operate more effectively across multiple teams and programs.
A brighter community space
Enhanced lighting will allow the venue to support a broader range of evening activities, community use and local events, helping create a more active and welcoming space for families and residents.
Whether it’s junior teams training after school, parents staying longer at the club, or community programs operating into the evening, the upgrade will help ensure Ridge Hills United continues to be a vibrant and accessible community sporting hub for years to come.
